Contractor Still Working To Help Hurricane Victims For Free
A lot of media attention has been on L.A. lately with the wildfires, which has been devastating, but let’s not forget the people of North Carolina are still suffering after Hurricane Helene. And unlike L.A., they are suffering in bitter cold temperatures, living in tents…waiting in lines for free propane tanks. And regular citizens, Good Samaritans and church groups have been slowing trying to help people rebuild their lives. The owner of a precision grading company in North Carolina named Jake Jarvis has been doing free construction work ever since Hurricane Helene tore through in September. He pays for it with donations and money from his own savings.
He started work the morning after the storm with his excavator trying clear storm debris and help make ways for people to get out who were trapped. He’s been paying his employees but he’s not taking money for himself. He says “we’re not getting rich, we’re getting by.”
