How Tate McRae Pivoted After Her Album Was Leaked
When Tate McRae found out her album So Close To What was leaked five weeks before the official release, she was in the bathtub. Talk about killing a vibe. She told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show the first people she called about it were her mom and her therapist. She ended up changing the album after that happened — she went BACK into the studio!
It’s just hard because it, you know, takes away all your control as an artist. I feel like the way you deliver your art is — you want it to be exactly how you want it to come out. So, yeah, it was devastating, but I feel like we turned it around and added some more songs.
Actress Sydney Sweeney also has a place in the opening track on the album, “Miss Possessive,” via voice memo. She connected with Sydney through mutual friend Glen Powell, who she does Pilates with.
The album also features her boyfriend, The Kid Laroi, on “I Know Love.”
Her Miss Possessive tour sold out arena across the US and Europe and she’s the upcoming musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
