Social Media Helps Reunite Couple With Wedding Video From 57 Years Ago

A couple living in Australia finally got their long-lost wedding video after 57 years thanks to a Facebook post.

Terry Cheyne of Aberdeen, Scotland, said he had amassed a large collection of Super 8 films over the years, most of which he shot himself. He decided to have it all transferred to DVD in April and that’s when he found footage of a wedding between two people he didn’t know. He posted a still image from the film to a local Facebook group but didn’t get any bites after six months.

Aileen Turnbull is now 77 and living in Brisbane, Australia. She had been a member of that group for five minutes when she spotted her own wedding photo!! Aileen married Bill in 1967, and they had watched their wedding video only once before they figured out they accidentally left it in a borrowed projector they had returned to the owner. The person that owned that projector was Cheyne’s uncle, who worked with Bill.

Cheyne sent them a digitized version of their video!
