“Moana 2” Sets New Thanksgiving Box Office Record With $221 Million
Moana 2 splashed in with a new Thanksgiving box office record taking in $221 million in its five-day debut. That’s also the biggest five-day debut ever, surpassing The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Wicked is still going strong with another $117.5 million, good enough for the #2 spot. So far, the global take is $359.2 million making it the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation in domestic history, ahead of 1978’s Grease ($188.62 million).
Gladiator II added $44 million good for the third top movie. Red One and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever rounded out the top five with $12.8 million and $3.2 million, respectively.
