Justin Baldoni Explains What Almost Gave Him A Breakdown Filming “It Ends With Us”
The release and success of “It Ends With Us” has been overshadowed a bit by rumors of tension on set, and now director/star Justin Baldoni is opening up about the challenges he faced.
Directing a movie with such sensitive subject matter and playing a character that’s an abusive husband took its toll, something he said it took “a few months” to get past it. The biggest challenge was “being at the top of this totem pole” where you couldn’t really share fears with anyone because you had to be a leader. He pointed to one scene during his appearance on the “How To Fail” podcast, that almost caused him to have a breakdown was when Ryle finds Lily’s phone with Atlas’ number in the case.
He never addressed tension with Blake Lively though both have hinted at creative differences. Baldoni did say “I think Blake is ready to direct, that’s what I think.”
