At Give Me Some Sugah bakery in Chicago, recently-hired employee Varmarr Hunter is particularly proud of his pound cake. He had always loved stopping in for a sweet treat or breakfast at the cafe, also because of the great service from the baker behind the counter.
That baker is Lenore Lindsey. She had given up her newborn son for adoption at just 17 years old. Varmarr didn’t know he was adopted until 34. After finding out, he eventually started the process to find out who his birth mother was, and submitted DNA for a test.
Then one day he wondered why his favorite bakery was calling him, only to quickly find out it had nothing to do with pastries! It was Lenore on the line and they started to connect the dots pretty quickly… then screaming for joy learning they were mother and son!
She hired him to take over the bakery while she recovered from an illness and get this, they had lived in the same neighborhood in Chicago their whole lives and never knew it! Now, he’s met a sister and extended family…while his 4 kids now have another grandma! He intends to keep their bakery in the family and pass it on to his kids once Lenore can no longer run it.
