Best Neighborhoods To See Christmas Lights

Looking for the best areas to drive around and see Christmas lights in the area? WLKY compiled some of the best displays to check out on both sides of the river!

Clay Street house

1249 South Clay Street This house across from Shelby Park features lights synchronized to music courtesy of a local DJ.

Lake Forest

Lake Forest has a lot of participation off Shelbyville Road in Middletown, and don’t miss the cul-de-sac off of Chestnut Ridge Circle to find a house with music synchronized to 92.5 FM.

Lights on Main

615 West Main Street This event next to the Frazier History Museum runs through Jan. 6 and features several Christmas trees decorated by local businesses, organizations, families and individuals. It’s free to guests, but donations are welcome. Funds go to the nonprofit I Would Rather Be Reading.

Toyland

6801 Melon Court Toyland is a festive home in southern Louisville that features Christmas trees, a nativity, and even a Santa’s workshop where visitors can see toy-making magic. This is one where visitors can explore the property on foot. They also accept cash donations on behalf of Home of the Innocents.

Windemere Place

Ashfield Lane Windemere Place is a Louisville neighborhood that goes all in with holiday lights. It doesn’t have an outlet so visitors are just asked to stick to the right as they drive down the main street and cul-de-sacs.

Derby Lane Light Show

580 Derby Lane in Finchville This house offers a dazzling 30-minute display of lights synchronized to Christmas music on the radio. It goes nightly from 6 to 11 p.m. There’s even a snow machine to make it feel like winter no matter the weather.

Southern Lights Holiday Festival

Kentucky Horse Park at 4089 Iron Works Parkway in Lexington The Kentucky Horse Park’s Southern Lights features over a million twinkling lights visitors can see as they drive through. There’s also a brightly lit holiday village. It features photos with Santa, animal land, model trains, and more. Open nightly until Dec. 31 (Closed Christmas Day) from 5:30-10:00 p.m. You can pre-purchase tickets at $35 per carload here. Cash and credit cards are accepted.

Charlestown Christmas

Charlestown’s Greenway Park Greenway Park will glow with lights throughout the season, including from the 55-foot tree. Visitors can also enjoy a stroll through the paved park. The park’s concession stand will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 29-Dec. 21 from 6-10 p.m. and during the live reindeer event which happens on Dec. 23 from 6-10 p.m.

Minion House

2032 Indiana Avenue in New Albany The entire yard is full of a variety of Minions inflatables ready for holiday mischief.
