Oscars 2025 Shortlists Unveiled
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the ten Oscar shortlists for the 97th event.
“Emilia Pérez” received six mentions for cosmetics, sound, original score, foreign feature, and two original songs (“El Mal” and “Mi Camino”). Universal Pictures’ “Wicked,” which placed fourth, followed the musical.

The preliminary vote includes animated short films, documentary features, documentary shorts, international features, live-action shorts, makeup and hairstyling, original scores, songs, sounds, and visual effects.
Oscar voting for all 23 categories begins on Wednesday, January 8, and ends on Sunday, January 12. The nominations will be announced Friday, January 17. Conan O’Brien will host the 2025 Oscars on March 2.
