Local Mom of 6 Gets A New Home Thanks To Community Support
Latoya Pulliam is a mom of 6 who found herself evicted and homeless after a second cancer diagnosis led to her losing her job. A chance encounter with a man on Bardstown Road led to her and her kids being able to stay in his shed in the backyard until Pulliam made her way to the wrap party for South End Angels. That’s where she met founder Amanda Mills who said Pulliam’s story “didn’t sit well with me.”
Mills called her landlord who had a rental house available to let Pulliam move into rent free until January, and then at a reduced rent.
Organizations like Shirley’s Way and Nick Rodman Legacy Foundation were able to gather household and food items in a matter of hours to stock for the family under their new roof. Next year Pulliam wants to be on the giving end to help pay it forward to someone else who may need help!
