Selena Gomez had the honor of being Jimmy Kimmel’s first guest of the new year where they caught up on the Golden Globes ceremony and her new engagement to Benny Blanco. He also gives her a bizarre engagement gift at the end of their interview.
They chat about her awkwardness at awards shows — she had just gotten back from the Golden Globes where she got to meet Salma Hayek and tell her that her dad crushes on her. Plus, she told Jimmy that she didn’t pick between seats at the Only Murders table and the Emilia Pérez table during the ceremony. Selena switched from one to another to be the casts of both projects she was nominated for, which meant she missed out on the food!
They get into her engagement to Benny Blanco and how he did not ask her TV dads, Martin Short and Steve Martin, for permission for her hand in marriage. He has the green light though! She and her fiancé spent the holidays together in New York.
Her new movie, Emilia Pérez, is out on Netflix now. She talks about rehearsing a dance part for the film on her own and even still feeling embarrassed with no one around.
