Jim Caviezel Will Play Jesus Again In “The Resurrection of the Christ”
It’s been two decades since Jim Caviezel played Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ”, and Gibson confirmed he’ll be back in the role for The Resurrection of the Christ.
Gibson confirmed on “The Joe Rogan Experience” that they will use de-aging technology to keep Jesus looking 33 (which happened to be Caviezel’s age when he played the role). He’s been writing the script with his brother over seven years. “I think in order to really tell the story properly you have to start with the fall of the angels, which [means] you’re in another place, you’re in another realm,” Gibson said. “You need to go to Hell. You need to go to Sheol.” The movie will pick up three days after the original ended, and Satan will be a character. Side note: while recording his interview with Rogan, he found out his house was destroyed in the L.A. wildfires but that his wife and son got out safely.
Caviezel has been open with the challenges of shooting Passion, saying he broke and rib and had an out-of-body experience being struck by lighting.
