Heidi Montag And Spencer Pratt Join Lawsuit Against L.A. For Wildfires

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are joining a growing list of property owners who are suing Los Angeles over the Palisades wildfire. They point to failures from the mayor and Governor Gavin Newsome in allowing reservoirs to be empty reservoir and not addressing the poorly-structured water system, which were known problems for years.

The lawsuit claims the LADWP made a “conscious decision” to leave the 117 million-gallon Santa Ynez Reservoir empty after it was drained in early 2024 for repairs. That empty reservoir led to unreplenished tanks that fed fire hydrants, which failed “within a span of 12 hours.”

Meanwhile, families of victims lost in the fires are suing SoCal Edison for failure to turn off utilities and properly inspect equipment.

The Palisades fire, the Eaton fire, and several other fires are still active in the Los Angeles area. President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump toured the area and sparred with Mayor Karen Bass over the rebuilding timeline and permit issues for homeowners. In fact, the President actually warned state leaders in 2018 during his first term that they had better address the issues that made California susceptible to wildfires including cleaning out overgrowth in the forests, and the water supply structure.

Celebrity realtor Josh Altman predicts at least half of the homeowners won’t return to the Palisades.
