Adrien Brody Set A World Record For His Long Oscars Speech
Adrien Brody had much to say when he accepted the Best Actor Oscar for his role in The Brutalist. He blatantly disregarded the 45 second limit, hushed the music away and continued on for five minutes and 40 seconds, which set a new Guinness World Record for the longest Oscars acceptance speech. That bested Greer Garson’s record of five minutes and 30 seconds from 1943 when she won for Mrs. Miniver.
But that’s not the only thing that stood out that he did. As he was making his way to the stage, he threw his GUM at his girlfriend! They tried to explain on Live With Kelly & Mark. “I could’ve swallowed it, but I didn’t think about that,” Brody said. “I had to get rid of it somehow.” But Chapman admitted that she didn’t actually catch the gum.
