Doja Cat Talks About Finding Her Best Speaking Voice
Doja Cat got ready with Vogue before performing “Diamonds Are Forever” at the Oscars where we get to see her talk about her vocal coach’s advice on she speaks, her hair preferences, and her excitement about honoring Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the Bond films.
In preparation to cover the song by Sherry Bassey, Doja says,
I wanted to channel her, but also give just an essence of myself within it.
I love doing things that are not usual to me.
I’m learning how to talk as a singer. And so, with that, I’m trying to split the difference between raspy and myself. And also being like this. You know? Just giving them a little bit of warmth and tone. It’s protective towards the voice.
She’s trying to find the middle ground of speaking and protecting her singing voice.
