The D.A. Withdraws Request To Reduce The Menendez Brother’s Sentences
After recent documentaries and docuseries into the Menendez brothers’ murder of their parents, a renewed interest in the case was sparked and push for the brothers release emerged.
But now Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that his office will withdraw the request to reduce the sentences of Lyle and Erik Menendez, citing a lack of remorse and acknowledgment of their crimes. The brothers are serving life without parole for their parents’ 1989 murders, and failed to admit the fabricated self-defense claim.
Despite previous support for re-sentencing by former D.A. George Gascón, Hochman, now in office, opposes it, emphasizing public safety concerns and the need for accountability. The brothers’ attorneys went to Governor Gavin Newsom asking for clemency, with Hochman comparing their lack of remorse to that of Robert Kennedy’s assassin, Sirhan Sirhan.
