Dolly Parton Celebrates 40th Anniversary of “Dollywood”
Dolly Parton stopped to talk to local news during a parade on the 40th anniversary opening day of Dollywood! This just a short time after the death of her longtime husband, Carl Dean.
She always said he didn’t like the public part of her life, so he kept out of that. He went to one award show with her and had such a miserable time, he told her never to ask him to another one of those things! They met at a laudromat in 1964 on the day she moved to Nashville and were married at ages 23 and 20. They were married more than 60 years.
