SpaceX Bringing Home Stranded Astronauts After Over 9 Months in Space
NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore are finally coming home today from a space mission that was supposed to be 10 days, but turned into nine months. The Boeing Starliner that was expected to carry them home after their short mission experienced issues, leaving the pair at the station for months. NASA’s SpaceX Crew 9 undocked from the International Space Station early this morning. During their extra time, they tried to have some fun by having a candy cane tossing party at Christmas and “competing” in zero-gravity Olympics!
Williams and Wilmore left the International Space Station on a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft early on Tuesday and began an about 17-hour journey toward a splashdown off the Florida coast.
