Kentucky Flood Waters Get National Attention
CBS Mornings featured the flooding happening in Louisville, Shepherdsville, Frankfort and other hard hit areas in Kentucky. Five lives have been lost in the state due to the storms and flooding.
The Kentucky River hit near record levels forcing evacuations. The Buffalo Trace Distillery was hit with flooding, and officials haven’t been able to get to the property to assess damage. A flood warning is in effect until at least Thursday.
One local business that has seen its share of floods (15 to be exact) is Captain’s Quarters Riverside Grille. Owner Andrew Masterson says they have been combatting dirty flood waters from coming in the restaurant by flooding it with fresh water for 20 years.
Aside from forcing evacuations, the threat of flooding has canceled Kentucky Derby Festival’s Thunder Over Louisville this weekend and caused JCPS and other schools to switch to NTI learning.
