Swifties Rejoice! Taylor Swift Now Owns ALL Her Original Music Masters

In a massive win for artists everywhere, Taylor Swift has officially purchased her entire original music catalog, ending her six-year battle to regain control of her first six albums. The pop superstar made the emotional announcement today, revealing she now owns all her early work that was previously controlled by Scooter Braun and later Shamrock Capital.

THE VICTORY SWIFTIES HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR

Swift shared the news with fans through an emotional statement, saying she “burst into tears of joy” when the deal was finalized. After years of publicly fighting for ownership of her music, Swift has achieved what many thought impossible.

“All I’ve ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy,” Swift wrote in her announcement.

The acquisition includes all six of her early albums: her self-titled debut “Taylor Swift” (2006), “Fearless” (2008), “Speak Now” (2010), “Red” (2012), “1989” (2014), and “Reputation” (2017). While the exact price hasn’t been disclosed, industry insiders suggest the deal is valued around $360 million – similar to what Shamrock Capital paid when they purchased her catalog from Scooter Braun.

THE DRAMA BEHIND THE MUSIC

For those who haven’t followed the saga, Swift’s catalog was originally owned by Big Machine Records, her former label. When Scooter Braun purchased Big Machine in 2019, he acquired ownership of Swift’s master recordings – a move that Swift called her “worst-case scenario” at the time.

Braun later sold the masters to investment firm Shamrock Capital in 2020, which prompted Swift to begin her ambitious re-recording project. She’s since released “Taylor’s Versions” of several albums, allowing fans to stream and purchase new recordings that she fully owned.

Now, Swift has completed her mission by purchasing the original recordings outright, giving her complete control over her entire musical legacy.

The acquisition represents a major victory not just for Swift, but for artists’ rights throughout the music industry. Her persistence has created a potential blueprint for other musicians looking to gain control of their work.

Fans have been celebrating across social media, with one Swiftie tweeting, “Taylor ALWAYS wins in the end,” while another shared, “I can now go back and listen to all of her original albums and not feel guilty.”

WHAT’S NEXT FOR TAYLOR?

With her catalog now secure, Swift can focus on her ongoing Eras Tour and future projects without the shadow of the ownership battle hanging over her. The massive success of her tour likely contributed to her ability to finance this historic purchase.
