Miley Cyrus says the root of the rift with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, was her parents’ divorce. She said to the New York Times “because my mom really loved my dad for her whole life…” “I think being married to someone in the music industry…is obviously really hard.”
Tish filed for divorce in 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage, and Miley says she took on her mom’s pain as her own. But seeing them both now happy in other relationships has help in the healing process, and allowed Miley to see them as individuals. Tish is now married to “Prison Break” actor Dominic Purcell, and Billy Ray is dating model Elizabeth Hurley.
