Brian Wilson died yesterday at the age of 82 after battling dementia since last year. He formed the Beach Boys in 1962 with his two brothers, Carl and Dennis, his cousin Mike Love, along with friends, David Marks and Al Jardine. They became one of Capitol Records biggest artists and Brian went on to be one of hit music’s best producers.
Their album, and Brian’s masterpiece, “Pet Sounds”, would inspire Paul McCartney to begin work on “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. Mike Love continues to do a Beach Boys tour with Bruce Johnston who began filling in for Brian in the mid-60s.
