Emmy Nominations: Surprises and Snubs
“Severance” is leading the field of nominees for the Emmy Awards with 27, while Seth Rogen’s “The Studio” led comedy nominees with 23 in a dominant year for Apple TV+. Famed directors Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese scored their first acting nominations playing themselves in “The Studio.”
HBO’s Batman universe dark drama, “The Penguin,” leads the limited series category with 24 nominations. Matlock star Kathy Bates is now the oldest nominee for best drama actress for the 2025 Emmys at the age of 77, while 15-year-old Adolescence star Owen Cooper is on the other end of the spectrum as the youngest up for best supporting actor in a limited/anthology series or movie.
AS for snubs, Nicholas Alexander Chavez of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” was left off the list, as did Season 3 of “Squid Game”.
