Chappell Roan Is Talking About When She’ll Write New Music
In a new interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Chappell Roan reveals she she simply chose to mention the Canadian province of Saskatchewan because it rhymed when she needed a rhyme in “The Subway.” She’s never been there, but she’s looking forward to performing there someday and she loves that their capital is Regina. LOL!

She dove into what inspired her to create “The Subway” and its themes of unrequited love,
I actually wrote it about L.A.
“The Subway” is just so much more romantic. But it was actually about me hiding in Los Angeles from someone who I was like deeply in love with. But we weren’t on bad terms. Like, it was just kind of trying to avoid the coffee shops that we went to and, like, parties. And, so, that’s where it came from — was “oh my god, I don’t know where to exist in this city.”
Chappell chatted about her hunger for making new music and adds,
I want to write music whenever I feel settled. I haven’t settled. It’s been a very unsettling year and a half. And I think once I really feel calm in a new house and, like, have a routine — I just can’t wait to have a routine — and then I can think about writing a song.
She’s looking forward to the rest of her tour, but she can take a big deep breath and rest and finally settle into a routine with her slippers soon enough and we’re hoping for some new music from her when she’s ready!
