Sabrina Carpenter Warns New Album Is Not For Pearl Clutchers
Sabrina Carpenter’s new album Man’s Best Friend has finally arrived in every sense of the word, but she’s warned that it’s not everybody. In a new sit-down with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, were she explained her interpretation of the album cover that drew a lot of criticism,
My interpretation is being in on the control — being in on your lack of control and when you want to be in control. Like, I think as a young woman, you’re just as aware of when you’re in control as when you’re not. And I think some of those are choices and I think for me, this whole album was about the humanity of allowing yourself to make those mistakes, knowing when you’re, ya know, putting yourself in a situation that will probably end up poorly, but it’s gonna teach you something. So, there’s a lot of different meanings.
Sabrina describes that she didn’t realize how taboo sexuality would be until she started writing about it freely and likes to write in a way that makes her happy and makes her laugh. She recognizes she’s not for everyone though. She mentions in a separate clip for CBS Mornings that this album isn’t for the “pearl clutchers.”
