New App Causes Concerns Over DeepFake AI Videos
OpenAI’s new app, Sora 2, is making it possible for anyone to create their own AI video content, which is sounding alarms in Hollywood. The Motion Picture Association already fired off a letter to OpenAI urging “immediate and decisive action” against the app, saying it’s “creating content that infringes on copyrighted media.” Basically, it’s getting almost impossible to tell what’s real and authentic. There has also been uproar about an AI actress named Tilly Norwood who could be the first to be signed by a talent agency.
It’s also gotten personal for the families of some celebrities who have popped up in AI generated contact, including Robin Williams’ daughter. Zelda Williams says, “It’s dumb, it’s a waste of time and energy…”
OpenAI says there will be an opt in that requires permission from actors and copyright holders before their images can be used.
