Billie Eilish Credits Her Career To This One Song
You may have learned who Billie Eilish was when “Bad Guy” blew up in 2019, but that’s not the song she thinks made her career what it is today. For her, that song is “Ocean Eyes.”
In a new interview with Wall Street Journal, Billie explains that her career has two eras essentially: before and after “Bad Guy.”
“Ocean Eyes” is the only reason any of it happened at all. And without that song, like, there would be nothing. None of this.
A week after “Ocean Eyes” came out on SoundCloud with a free download link, Phineas called me. I was in a Starbucks. I was in between dance classes. And he was like, “dude, our song has a thousand plays!”
I remember the moment feeling like, “this is my moment. This is like — this is minute of fame or whatever people say — and this is the best thing that will ever happen to me. Obviously, things changed and I can’t be more grateful for that song. It’s crazy that it — any of this happened.
Billie also credited her family for their support in her career as well. She’s currently on the Hit Me Hard & Soft Tour where director James Cameron is creating a 3D film experience for release later!
