Community Hosts Vigil For UPS Plane Crash Victims
Loved ones, community members hosted a vigil honoring victims of the Louisville plane crash. The tragedy of UPS flight 2976 has affected not only UPS as a whole, but surrounding businesses, family, friends and the entire community.
Teamsters Local 89 hosting the vigil aiming to help start the healing process and honor the victims with their grieving community.
Area businesses have the daunting task of picking up the pieces emotionally and physically. Stooges bar has closed due to contamination for now and the owner, Debbie Self, says she couldn’t believe what she saw. “I’ve known some of these guys from UPS for 40 years, like Woody, Tim, I mean, I’ve known them for so many years,” she added. “They started as part-time supervisors and now some of them are getting ready to retire or have retired, that’s how long I know them. They’re good people, good people, good, hardworking people.”
The tragedy has so far claimed 13 lives, including the crew consisting of Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt and International Relief Officer Captain Dana Diamond.
