Hilary Duff Talks Getting Made Fun Of Online And More

Variety sat down with Hilary Duff to see if she can identify her own songs based on the lyrics and the verdict is in… She can! From “Come Clean” to “Fly” all the way to her current single “Mature,” she knows her music!

When it came to nailing her 2007 single “With Love,” she touched on the social media trend where people were recreating the choreography,

It’s not necessarily fun to watch yourself get made fun of, but I can also, like, have a chuckle and ride the wave and see what is so fun about it. But I look back at that time and there was, like, many days that were great and I had, like, a lot of enthusiasm for what I was doing and there was many days where I was like super uncomfortable in my own skin and struggling to be who I was at the time.

There’s even time to go over the famous line from A Cinderella Story and that’s when Hilary recounted working with Jennifer Coolidge when she was just a kid.

By the way, it’s been so much fun to watch her career. She just goes there in such a big way that it was really impressive and, like, slightly intimidating as like a teenager. And she was, like, mean to me, so it was, like, a little scary because I was only like 15 and she was just, you know, mean to me ’cause she’s, like, my evil stepmother.

Now, she’s excited to revisit her music on tour alongside the new album. She called it “a lovely, lovely victory lap.” Her video for “Mature” even featured a butterfly as a way to tie back into her debut album Metamorphosis and show growth and rebirth.
