Fan Creates ‘MTV Rewind’ Website With Classic Videos

If you were sad with MTV shut down their global music channels, now there’s a place you can find them again in chronological order. A fan-created website called MTV Rewind has launched, featuring 27,293 classic music videos and vintage commercials. The creator goes by FlexasaurusRex and curated the videos from YouTube content, organizing videos chronologically from MTV’s 1981 debut through the 2020s. So basically instead of finding them all individually on YouTube, he organized them and put them in one place.

The site includes dedicated sections for “Yo! MTV Raps” and “Headbangers Ball” programming. MTV closed its 24-hour music channels in most countries on New Year’s Eve, though MTV Classic and MTV Live are still on U.S. cable. MTV’s main channel continues broadcasting reality shows worldwide.

The creator promises MTV Rewind will stay “free forever” without advertisements, but there are prompts for donations for site support or just “a coffee”. There’s also an MTV Rewind YouTube channel that has classic shows that ran on the network.
