Big Winners And Big Moments From The Grammys
The 68th annual Grammy Awards took place Sunday night (Feb. 1) at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with Trevor Noah serving as the host of the ceremony for the sixth and final time.
The ceremony kicked off with a couple of energetic performances, as Bruno Mars and Rosé delivered their global smash hit, “APT.,” and later returned for “I Just Might.”
Six-time nominee on the night – but ultimately winless – Sabrina Carpenter, gave a Pan Am-inspired performance of “Manchild.” Justin Bieber gave a stripped-down – literally – performance of “YUKON,” his first time on the Grammy stage in four years, after first making his debut fifteen years ago at the age of 16. He was wearing boxers and socks.
Lady Gaga sang through a wicker headpiece as she delivered an electric performance of “Abracadabra,” while Tyler, the Creator gave an explosive medley performance of “Thought I Was Dead/Like Him/Sugar On My Tongue.”
And Ozzy Osbourne’s family got emotional during his tribute.
After her acceptance speech for a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, Cher got confused and walked off stage. She was supposed to announce the award for Record of the Year.
As for the awards, Bad Bunny won the night’s biggest one, Album of the Year, for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. That also was named Best Música Urbana Album. Kendrick Lamar, the night’s most recognized nominee with nine total nods, won Record of the Year for his SZA collaboration, “Luther,” Rap Album of the Year for GNX, and Best Rap Song for “TV Off.” Lamar also took home another big award after Clipse won their first ever Grammy for Best Rap Performance for “Chains & Whips” which features Kendrick and Pharrell Williams. Billie Eilish won Song of the Year for “Wildflower,” while Lady Gaga was another big winner, as MAYHEM won Best Pop Vocal Album and “Abracadabra” took home Best Dance Pop Recording. Best New Artist was awarded to Olivia Dean, after all eight of the nominees gave back-to-back performances for the first time in Grammy history. Jelly Roll admitted he got emotional in the bathroom after winning Best Contemporary Country Album for ‘Beautifully Broken.’ His “Hard Fought Hallelujah” partner, Brandon Lake, picked up Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.
There was some interesting fashion as well! Harry Styles was surprisingly dressed down with jeans and a jacket.
