James Van Der Beek Passes Away At 48 After Colorectal Cancer
James Van Der Beek lost his battle with colorectal cancer at the age of 48. His family posted about his passing on his Instagram saying, Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity, and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
Van Der Beek was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer and kept it secret for a year before going public in late 2024.
He shared what his journey with cancer taught him in a post last March on his birthday.
Van Der Beek rose to fame as star of the beloved series, “Dawson’s Creek”, and went on to star in “Varsity Blues”, “Don’t Trust the B In Apartment 23” and even competed on “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Masked Singer”.
He shared 6 kids with wife of 15 years, Kimberly, four girls and 2 boys.
