Team USA Men’s Hockey Wins First Gold Medal In 46 Years
Jack Hughes scored the winning goal in overtime to give Team USA men’s hockey its first gold medal in 46 years over Canada in dramatic overtime fashion!
And in celebrating that moment, they brought down the kids and family of their late teammate, Johnny Gaudreau, as they held up his #13 jersey. Forward Dylan Larkin and defenseman Zach Werenski brought over Gaudreau’s daughter Noa, 3, and son Johnny Jr., 2, to get in the picture. Gaudreau played 11 seasons in the NHL before tragically losing his life at age 31 with his brother, 29-year-old Matthew, when they were hit by a drunk driver while cycling on August 29, 2024. The brothers died the night before their sister’s wedding. Their sister, Katie, did get married but not until July 11, 2025, nearly a year later.
Gaudreau’s wife Meredith brought the kids to the game, alongside his parents Jane and Guy Gaudreau who was seen in tears after the win.
