Britney Spears Avoids Jail Time With Guilty DUI Plea Deal
Britney Spears entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor DUI charge during Monday’s arraignment, which keeps her out of jail. The charge was reduced to a “wet reckless” charge, which places her on 12-month probation and requires completion of a DUI education program.
She qualified for the plea deal due to having no prior DUI history, no accident or injuries, and a low blood alcohol level. Spears was arrested March 4 around 9:30 p.m. in Ventura County by California Highway Patrol and booked at 3 a.m. the following day. Her rep called it “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” stating Spears would “take the right steps and comply with the law.”
Spears voluntarily entered a treatment facility but left days before her court appearance.
