Taylor Swift And Beyonce Among Latest Inducted Into The National Recording Registry
The Library Of Congress inducted 25 new recordings into the National Recording Registry, including Taylor Swift’s “1989” and Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”
These are exceptionally rare as they are the only entries from the 21st century. Others making the cut are Weezer’s Blue Album, Ray Charles’ Modern Sounds in Country & Western Music, the Go-Go’s Beauty & The Beat, and José Feliciano’s Feliz Navidad.
The selections span from 1944’s Cocktails For Two by Spike Jones to Swift’s 2014 album. Chaka Khan said her induction for “I Feel For You” means “it wasn’t just a hit, it was history.” There are now 700 recordings preserved in the registry for future generations.
