I-65 Central Corridor Detour Options
The I-65 Summer Shutdown is upon us!! Drivers can expect work to begin around 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 31 in advance of the planned temporary closure of five miles of I-65 starting at 12:01am June 1. That closure will be between the Watterson Expressway and downtown Jefferson Street and to help you adapt, KYTC has partnered with the WAZE app to provide real time traffic monitoring to drivers. Officials also say any map app should work as well.
I-65 Central Corridor also produced a video explaining your detour options. They are estimating you’ll need an extra 15-20 minutes added to your commute, and encourage you to plan out and practice your new route this weekend.
The work is expected to be done and that stretch to reopen on Saturday, Aug. 1.
