She defended wearing revealing outfits and babydoll dresses, stating “I’ve been on stage in a sparkly bra, little shorts, which is my right.” Rodrigo noted the contradiction where revealing clothes weren’t deemed “inappropriate” but a fully-covered dress considered “childlike” was criticized. “It just shows how we really normalize pedophilia in our culture,” she said.
Rodrigo rejected the narrative that women should modify clothing to avoid male sexualization, explaining she felt inspired by heroes like Kathleen Hanna and Courtney Love. “You shouldn’t be responsible for some guy sexualizing you in a way that was never your intention,” she concluded.
