“Scary Movie 6” Wins The Box Office With $55 Million Opening
Scary Movie 6 captured the top box office position, earning $55 million during its opening weekend. Strong audience recommendations, combined with nostalgic appeal and horror elements, propelled the film beyond industry projections while establishing a franchise opening record.
Masters Of The Universe secured second place with $29.3 million domestically, representing disappointing results for a production with nearly $200 million in costs. Backrooms claimed third with another $25.9 million bringing the total to $135 million domestically and $212.6 million worldwide. That’s good enough to surpass Marty Supreme ($191 million) as A24’s top-earning global release.
Obsession maintained fourth place with $25.6 million in its fourth week, declining just 7% as it approaches $200 million globally. The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act completed the top five with $19.4 million.
