“Toy Story 5” Wins The Box Office With $160 Million Debut

Toy Story 5 dominated the weekend box office, generating $160 million across North American theaters. That exceeded projections and surpassed Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($131.7 million) as the year’s largest domestic opening. It’s also the second-highest animated debut ever, trailing only the $182.7 million Incredibles 2 earned in 2018.

Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fil film Disclosure Day dropped to second place with $17 million, falling 62% from its opening. Indie horror hit Obsession earned $14.2 million in its sixth week for third place, while Backrooms collected $7.3 million and landed in fourth. Scary Movie completed the top five with $6.7 million.
