Neutrogena has issued a public apology following the death of actress and brand ambassador Hayden Panettiere. The skincare company faced widespread social media backlash after Panettiere’s memoir and interviews revealed Neutrogena nearly fired her for publicly discussing her postpartum depression. The company had allegedly cited a “morals clause” violation.
“We understand that we made her feel unsupported during a very difficult time,” Neutrogena stated on Instagram. The company also pledged a financial investment toward community health resources supporting women with postpartum depression.
Panettiere had said in her 2026 memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, that the attempted firing shocked her. Her death remains under investigation, with the DEA involved, though police report no signs of foul play.
