Former MLB Player Gets Life-Saving Transplant From Former Classmate
In the early 2000’s, Steven Register was a starting pitcher for the State Championship Shaw High School baseball team. After shining on the high school diamond, Register would go on to play for 3 years at Auburn University. He then reached the highest level of professional baseball and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies.
Then life threw a curve ball to Steven, his wife, Beth, and their three children. Steven was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer and went through chemo, but it spread to his liver. So he needed a transplant. An old classmate named Kristin Johnston heard about it and was able to donate part of her liver.

Steven and Kristin will undergo their transplant surgery in June in Rochester, New York.
