Chappell Roan Says There Is No Second Album
In a new interview with Vogue, Chappell Roan clarifies that even though she just released “The Subway” and there have been widespread murmurs of a sophomore album to The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess that “the second project doesn’t exist yet. There is no album. There is no collection of songs.” So there is no second album… YET. This is tough news for those of us that were hoping that it would be out this year, but we are excited for Chappell to make something she’s really proud of.
She told Vogue that the first album took her five years to create and that the next one will probably be like that too. Chappell doesn’t intend to write under pressure for the sake of simply putting out music with a deadline saying, “I don’t think I make good music whenever I force myself to do anything.”
Rather than let social media be an influence on her album, Vogue explains that she posts to Instagram and then quickly deletes the app from her phone altogether: “Socials harm the f*** out of me and my art. I’m not doing that to myself anymore. I’ve never written an album where I don’t have Instagram or anything. The album process is purely, only mine. No one on TikTok gets to see it.”
While she may be resisting the internet’s influence, she’s influencing those online. ABC News reports that Chappell’s “The Subway” is creating a pop for Saskatchewan. More people are searching for the Canadian province since the song gained popularity. They are even planning to launch a marketing campaign around the song lyrics “moving to Sasketchewan.” Nice.
