Dan Nigro Breaks Down Chappell Roan’s Backing Vocals
A sneak peek video from Mix with the Masters, Dan Nigro shows off all the different layers of Chappell Roan’s vocals from full voice to falsetto to a pedal tone. At 2:45 in the video, Nigro reveals his friend, Lily Elise lent her voice on the track for further support.
This isn’t the first time Nigro asked nearby friend to chip in their vocal chops for a future hit. Chappell was once the friend who popped into Olivia Rodrigo’s sound booth thanks to her connection to Dan Nigro. According to People, Chappell is part of the background vocals on GUTS songs “Lacy” and “Obsessed” on top of “Can’t Catch Me Now” from The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
While Chappell has talked about the fact that there is no second album ready to go just yet, she’s excited to write more music once she’s settled back down and in a new home with a routine. Perhaps sharing the stage with Olivia Rodrigo on the GUTS World Tour will inspire a record collaboration.
