Former Radiothon Kid Gives Back To Norton Children’s Hospital
WLKY featured a story on Seth Walsh and they way he’s trying to help kids who are going through what he has been through. Multiple times.
We met him first when he was starting his journey with B-cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia, an aggressive, fast-growing cancer of immature white blood cells, when he was four years old. Since his diagnosis, Seth, now 10-years-old, has relapsed four times. We have shared his story told by Seth and his mom, Michelle, during our Norton Children’s Hospital Radiothon for years.
They started a non-profit called Seth’s Squad to update friends, family and followers on his journey. But also as a way to make a difference. Knowing the struggles they faced during treatment over the years, Seth and his mom wanted to help other families by keeping the pantry stocked at Norton Children’s Cancer Institute. Since June, they have been bringing in everything from dinner items to snacks and drinks for pediatric cancer patients and families, every other Monday.
“We’ve supplied over 6,000 servings of snacks, microwavable meals and drinks. So 6,000 servings in ten weeks.” Seth’s reason is simple: “It just feels nice to, like, give the kindness back. It’s basically treat people the way you want to be treated. And then it will always come back to you,” said Seth.
They have set up an Amazon wish list of items needed at the Norton Children’s Cancer Institute Pantry, and they are planning a pickleball tournament next month to raise money for the cause!
