Dad Of Three Gets Boy Safely Down From Monorail at Hersheypark
You probably saw this video a million times pop up on your feed…a kid standing on the monorail track at Hersheypark. The hero who got him down safely is John Sampson, a dad of three.
He didn’t hesitate when the crowd started panicking at the sight of the boy standing on the track alone. Sampson said that “dad instinct” kicked in as he quickly tried to find a way to get on the monorail himself. He found a way by climbing onto the roof of a snack shack and got the boy down safely.
Sampson said the boy’s parents reached out to him the next morning to thank him for his quick action.
According to park officials, the boy had been reported missing around 5 p.m. Saturday. He managed to enter the closed, secured monorail station before wandering onto the tracks. The park says from the time he was reported missing to reuniting with this family was 23 minutes.
