Winners Of Lifetime Prizes From Publisher’s Clearing House Out of Luck
Here’s when “forever” doesn’t really mean FOREVER.
Remember all those commercials where the Publisher’s Clearing House prize patrol would surprise people at their doors with balloons and big checks? That was fun. John Wyllie in Oregon was one of those people in those commercials back in 2012, winning $5,000 a week forever. That’s an annual $260,000 budget.
But this year, the check never came. That’s because this past April, Publishers Clearing House filed for bankruptcy, and at least 10 former winners of “forever” prizes will no longer get their payments. Ouch.
