Cop Buys Deaf French-Speaking Traveler Bus Ticket in Pittsburgh
A cop in Pittsburgh named Steven Harris is getting some viral kudos after he used his own money to help out a stranger.
Police were called to the Greyhound station about a person who was being “unruly”, but it turns out there was way more going on. The “unruly” man was just trying to communicate despite being hearing-impaired and not speaking English. He spoke French and was trying to get to Montreal.
Harris and another officer called the translator line to help figure out what he needed, and found out his bags were in New York and he had no money to get home. So Harris took out his bank card and paid $113 to buy him a ticket to New York and hopefully on home to Montreal.
Harris said, “We’re supposed to be good men. Good men helping other good men, that’s it.”
