New Technology Can Help Paralyzed People Walk Again
This is pretty amazing! 22-year-old Caroline Laubach from Pennsylvania ended up paralyzed from the waist down after a spinal stroke when she was 18. Now, she’s testing out new technology that is giving her the chance to walk again.
She’s testing out EVE, the world’s first self-balancing exoskeleton developed by Wandercraft that helps her walk, climb stairs and even bend over to pick something up. These are all things she never thought she’d experience again. She says she almost forgot how tall she is and loves being able to talk to people without looking up at them.
GMA profiled her experience, and reported that Medicare agreed to cover the device, which should be FDA cleared for use in the home by the middle of 2026!
