Sombr’s Choatic Debut On SNL
Sombr made his Saturday Night Live debut over the weekend as musical guest with Nikki Glaser as host. We learn just in their their teaser where the stage name “sombr” came from in the first place — it’s inspired by his initials S.M.B. He performed “12 to 12” and “back to friends,” but it got the weirdest at the very end.

He brought high energy and a wobbly-on-purpose mic stand with his opening performance “12 to 12.” He even changed the lyrics to fit the occasion: “We met in a Paris café” became “We met in New York City.”
For “back to friends,” he started off with a stripped back version on the piano and then beefed it up with the rest of the band. Things get unexpected, maybe even unhinged when suddenly sombr wraps the cord of the mic around his neck and climb the ladder on the side of the stage to finish out of the song. That part was different.
Sombr left nothing behind on that stage — not his voice, not his energy, and definitely not his sense of chaos. It was bold, bizarre, and unforgettable.
