Chappell Roan Goes Back On Her Tribute To Late Brigitte Bardot

Chappell Roan has taken inspiration from French model Brigitte Bardot, even putting her in the first verse of her song “Red Wine Supernova.”

However, there were, in fact, things that Chappell didn’t know about Ms. Bardot and she quickly learned just after posting a tribute upon the famous model and actress’ death. After getting messages from fans, she came to find out that despite caring for animals through a foundation, Ms. Bardot had been charged in the past for inciting racial hatred against Muslim people according to NPR. Bardot had also called for gay people to keep their sexuality a secret per OUT.

After learning more about Brigitte Bardot, Chappell Roan posted to her Instagram story to say publicly,

Holy sh*t i did not know all that insane sh*t Ms. Bardot stood for

obvs I do not condone this. very disappointing to learn.

It would be interesting to see next if she keeps the lyrics in “Red Wine Supernova” the same or chooses to honor other famous sex symbols she’s inspired by.
