Woman Donates Her Kidney To Her Ex-Husband’s New Wife
Donating a kidney is a huge gift, even if you know or are related to them. Sometimes it goes to a complete stranger which is INCREDIBLY selfless and generous. But this connection from donor to recipient is unusual and amazing.
Angela Maples battled kidney failure for three years and endured 14-hour dialysis sessions while awaiting a transplant. Two other donors had fallen through. Running out of options, she reached out to her husband Joshua’s ex-wife, Amanda McCowen, whom she didn’t have a great relationship with. Initially, she was going over her last wishes with Amanda, mainly getting along with her ex. That’s when Amanda offered to get tested to see if she was a match, and she was. A perfect match. They had a successful transplant late last year that created an extraordinary bond and gave Angela a new lease on life. They talked to Inside Edition about that bond.
